Holiday was one of the best point guards available on the market, but there was also a trust factor with the Pelicans, who supported him last season while he dealt with a family medical emergency.
Holiday’s wife, Lauren – a member of the United States women’s national soccer team, underwent brain surgery to remove a benign tumor after giving birth to the couple’s first child. Holiday took a leave of absence to be with his family while his wife underwent successful surgery in October.
