Cowboys move on from Foles
After backup quarterback Kellen Moore went down with a broken right fibula on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys are scrambling to find a backup to long-time starter Tony Romo. They were interested in former Rams quarterback Nick Foles, but after he signed with the Chiefs on Wednesday, Dallas has turned its attention to Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown, according to a report by Cleveland.com.
McCown is entering his 14th season and fits the veteran mold that the Cowboys are seeking in a backup quarterback, especially with Romo’s recent injury history. The problem for Dallas, though, is that the Browns aren’t completely sold on the idea of parting ways with the 37-year-old.
In the offseason, the Browns acquired former Redskin and No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III, leading to the mass assumption that he would be the Week 1 starter.
