GLENDALE, Ariz. – Odell Beckham Jr. showed up at the Final Four in Arizona on Saturday to support North Carolina. Before the game started, Beckham posted video of himself cheering on the Tar Heels players as they ran past him on his Instagram Story.
But why is the Giants wide receiver a North Carolina fan when he grew up in Louisiana and played football at LSU? Beckham spoke to For The Win at Saturday’s Final Four about his UNC basketball fandom.
“I always said if I ever was to play basketball or pursue basketball, the only way is if I had an offer from UNC to play basketball,” Beckham said. “I went to Roy Williams’ camp when I was younger. I still remember walking in there and everything like that. I’ve just always been a UNC fan.”
He’s already showed some basketball talent in the past.
Beckham watched that crazy finish to the 2016 national title game at his home. This time, he was seated in the first row behind the North Carolina bench and next to Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
