In a wide-ranging hour-long interview with Sportsnet released Friday, new Predators defenseman P.K. Subban elaborated on the blockbuster June 29 trade involving him and Shea Weber, transitioning to Nashville and his appreciation for Montreal and the Canadiens organization.

“It’s been positive,” Subban told the Canadian outlet of his conversations with the Predators. “It was very short. I spoke to (general manager) David (Poile) on the phone and I heard his interview and it was all positive. It was great. He was really excited about having me there. I think the first thing for me is just I just want to come in and do my job. I don’t know what my role yet is going to be on the team or how I’m going to fit in. That’s OK. I’m excited about that.
