Tuesday’s game between the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels took a scary turn in the seventh inning when star Albert Pujols took a fastball from Tony Barnette to the helmet.
Rangers beat writer Alden Gonzalez reported that the pitch came in at 92 mph.
Despite how dangerous the incident looked, Pujols would actually remain in the game. After taking his base, he ran on Daniel Nava’s single. A double play eventually ended the inning.
Prior to getting hit, Pujols was having a monster game. The power hitter had gone 3-for-3, with two three-run home runs.
His six-RBI performance paced the Angels to an 8-6 win.
