Rain Leaves Yankees With Doubleheader Before Key Boston Series

The Yankees’ Joe Girardi, like most big-league managers, was not thrilled about having to play two games in one day, regardless of the start times.

Girardi said he disliked how the setup could affect the bullpen.

“You could realistically use six or seven relievers in a doubleheader,” he said, adding that beyond the bullpen, there were other concerns.

“And some guys are going to have to play 18 innings,” he said. “From a physical standpoint, that takes its toll.”

JUDGE TO PLAY Joe Girardi said outfielder Aaron Judge would “absolutely” play in at least one of Wednesday’s games after being benched for Monday’s outing.
