Sabres to terminate suspended player's contract, and it will cost him more than $12 million

After 5 1/2 months and 23 games played together, the Buffalo Sabres and center Patrik Berglund decided their marriage wasn’t working.

The Sabres announced Tuesday that they placed Berglund on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. They declined further comment upon announcing the move.

According to Capfriendly.com, Berglund is losing $12,579,032. If the Sabres bought out Berglund next summer, he would have received more than $7 million.
