The Dolphins lost quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a knee injury on Sunday. The only way the injury won’t mean the end of Tannehill’s season is if the backup quarterback Matt Moore can keep the Dolphins’ season from ending on Jan. 1.
Moore was good enough to beat the Cardinals off the bench, so topping the Jets sounds feasible enough for a wild-card contender with seven wins in the last eight games. Moore’s last start? A 19-17 win over the Jets on New Year’s Day five years ago.
Jets quarterback Bryce Petty won last weekend for the first time as an N.F.L. starter. Time to see if that was a product of Petty’s skill or a byproduct of the 49ers’ defense. Pick: Dolphins.
