The Albany Great Danes have won their last six games, which included capturing the America East Conference tournament title for the sixth consecutive year — a pretty impressive run of success by most standards.
Their reward? A first-round N.C.A.A. tournament matchup against the top-ranked Connecticut Huskies, who are on a 107-game winning streak and are seeking a fifth straight national title this year.
The Huskies, who earned the No. 1 seed in the Bridgeport Region, could encounter familiar faces en route to the Final Four in Dallas. Syracuse, which lost last year’s national title game to UConn, 82-51, is the No. 8 seed and can set up a rematch with the Huskies in the second round in Storrs, Conn., if the Orange can overcome No. 9 Iowa State.
