MONTREAL (AP) — Ferrari’s Sebastien Vettel was the fastest in the final practice session on Saturday before the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix.
Vettel completed the 2.71-mile (4.36-km) Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 1 minute, 13.919 seconds. That’s already faster than Lewis Hamilton’s qualifying time from last year.
Red Bull rookie Max Verstappen was second-fastest in practice, coming in 0.239 seconds behind Vettel. Championship leader Nico Rosberg was third in his Mercedes, Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen fourth and Hamilton fifth. In all, 11 drivers were within 1 second of Vettel, who won here in 2013.
A light rain began falling in the final 15 minutes. The session ended 8 minutes early when Kevin Magnussen crashed into the wall in Turn 7.
