Serena on losing French Open: 'I was really pissed'

Serena Williams lost the finals of the French Open in straight sets to Spain’s Garbiñe Muguruza. And now, thanks to this video Williams filmed while standing over a basket of tennis balls, we know how she felt about it: “really pissed.”

Williams goes on to say some slightly incoherent things about being “so pissed” that she left her rackets in Paris after smashing them against her tennis bag. She also thought she could’ve done everything “five times better,” and that she played “awful and crappy.”

“So I’m going to take a moment to be super candid and super honest. After Paris, the final, which is great, you know, for everyone on this planet with the exception of me, I don’t do what everyone else does, I was really pissed, I have to admit. I thought I could’ve played better, I thought I could’ve competed better, I thought I could’ve really done everything five times better. And I didn’t, and I was so pissed that I actually abandoned my rackets in France after maybe a few smashes of the racket bag.
