NEW ORLEANS – “Straight playoff mentality.”
That’s the term Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris used to describe the state of mind for the defending Super Bowl champs, with seven whole weeks remaining in the regular season.
Like holiday shopping, there’s nothing like getting an early jump on matters.
“That’s the way we’ve got to approach it,” Harris told USA TODAY Sports after the wild, 25-23 victory against the New Orleans Saints improved Denver’s record to 7-3.
Some teams in the one-game-at-a-time NFL would be barred from mentioning the playoffs in mid-November. The Broncos have earned that right, though, with the lessons in resiliency learned in last season’s march to the title.
